Prof. Zaki Amir
Zaki Amir retired from substitute teaching in Washington D.C. after teaching abroad in the People’s Republic of China for 10 years as a Professor of English study. He completed his posting in China at a private English Training School. Previously, he taught Film, Western Culture, Listening, Reading, Speaking and Writing at one of its oldest universities. This was subsequent to teaching Listening and Conversational English at a Technical College at his first post in China.
Prior to going abroad, he worked at Roosevelt University in the development area for many years and conducted market research analysis for several companies within the Chicago market. Professor Amir was a Social Worker in NYC’s largest shelter. He helped to open it and close it, coming to it after being a Vocational Instructor in the historic Williamsburg neighborhood helping Spanish young women learn employment techniques and information at an alternative High School. He did this upon his departure from New York City Technical College teaching Reading, Writing and Speech to students from every imaginable continent.
PBS was where Professor Zaki Amir started his journey in media after being trained in Mass Communications. His background in Television Production and Radio is being further brought to civic responsibilities as he now prepares to work delivering content via a blog, podcast and website dedicated to the successful struggle for Human Rights of Afrodescendants.
Lastly and most importantly, he writes for Muhammad Speaks and the North Lawndale Community News and is currently the Copy Editor for Muhammad Speaks and a long-time follower of the Honorable Silis Muhammad.
